Hiring: Archive Clerk

We are looking for an Archive Clerk

This term position is for a maximum of 350 hours for a minimum of 10 weeks (35 hours/week) or to a maximum of 20 weeks (17.5 hours/week). Start date is October 11th and the latest end date is February 26, 2022. A wide variety of work schedules/times are available including the possibility of working 12 hours/week for 20 weeks (240 hours).

Funding for this program is being provided by the Government of Canada which provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.  All youth aged 15 to 30 years may be eligible participants.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Administrative work to support the Flin Flon Heritage Committee (e.g., taking and transcribing minutes, )

·  Continue working to set up a functional archive space in the Library building basement

·  Physically work in the basement of the Library building to ensure documents and photographs stored there are archived in an appropriate manner to ensure longevity of material

·  Scan archival document and photographs for permanent electronic preservation

·  Research and recommend an appropriate archive electronic database/software for purchase by the Flin Flon Heritage Committee

·  Create a proper filing system for documents, microfiche, and photographs (electronic and physical)

·  Work and liaise with community members to take oral histories

·  Collect from community members important historical material to ensure it is housed in one location (Library building basement)

·  Conduct, meet, and liaise with community members to verify identifies, locations, and facts of historical documents and photographs

·  Work with Flin Flon Public Library staff to ensure workers are aware of the archives and how to access them (physically and electronically).

·  Other general duties as assigned by the Librarian
