MEET OUR STAFF

Lisa Slugoski, Head Librarian

Email: ffpl-admin@shaw.ca
Phone: 1-833-960 3519 ext. 333

Lisa S. is our Head Librarian, previously holding the title of Library Clerk/Social Media and Website Manager at the library. Her main duties now include management of staff, writing grants, overseeing financial records, ordering books, maintaining the library’s collection, as well as creating content for our website, and posts for our social media channels. If you enjoy our Facebook and Instagram posts, it’s Lisa’s doing.

FAVOURITE BOOK:
It changes all the time, but right now it has to be Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. This book was written in 1938, and while there are some dated phrases and societal norms, the story holds up under modern scrutiny. Though she is no longer around, you feel Rebecca on every page, and in every nook of the sprawling country estate, Manderley. She is an unshakeable illusion, as much a part of the story as our unnamed protagonist. I felt the book come alive around me, and that’s always the best part of reading, when you become a part of the story.
FAVOURITE GENRES: Mystery/Thriller, Historical Fiction, and Literary Fiction
PHYSICAL BOOK, eBOOK, or AUDIOBOOK?
Physical book, always. Though I will settle for an eBook if it’s the only option.

Lisa Goodfellow, Assistant Head Librarian

Email: ffpl@shaw.ca
Phone: 833-960-3519 ext. 444

Lisa G. is the Assistant Head Librarian. Lisa’s background is in administration and management, coming to the library from the Coop Administration Office. Lisa is responsible for a lot of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our library running smoothly, from admin work, to designing our displays, through cataloguing and deletions. She is also responsible for tracking down items from other Manitoba libraries for our patrons to borrow, as well as updating and maintaining our catalogue.

FAVOURITE BOOK: “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson
FAVOURITE GENRES:
Autobiography, Biography, and True Crime
PHYSICAL BOOK, eBOOK, or AUDIOBOOK?
Audiobooks.

Rachel Hyska, Inter-Library Loans Clerk/Cataloguer

Email: ffpl-ill@shaw.ca
Phone: 833-960 3519 ext. 555

Rachel has been at the library on-and-off for four years, and as such, she is our resident database on the peculiarities of this library. She started as a Student Page, worked her way up, and now holds the title of Inter-Library Loans Clerk. Rachel is responsible for tracking down items from other Manitoba libraries for local patrons to borrow, ordering all our books, as well as updating and maintaining our catalogue.

FAVOURITE BOOK: She can’t pick a favourite book per se, but has a favourite series: “Warriors” by Erin Hunter. Even though she discovered and read it as a child, she still maintains that the series is far better than a story about cats living in the woods has any right to be.
FAVOURITE GENRES:
Fiction, Fantasy, Young Adult, and Sci-Fi
PHYSICAL BOOK, eBOOK, or AUDIOBOOK?
She grew up reading physical books, so anything else doesn’t quite feel right. An eBook will do in a pinch, though.

Gabbie Smith, Library Clerk

Email Gabbie at ffpl-summer-student@shaw.ca
Call Gabbie at 1-833-960-3519 ext. 222

Gabbie is the new library clerk. She is a returning employee who has worked at the library as a student page in years past. Although her official title is library clerk, that is just a nice way of saying she gets to start all of the little projects that the full-time staff had yet to get to.

FAVOURITE BOOK: Watchmen by Alan Moore

FAVOURITE GENRES:  Action Adventure, Classical and Medieval Literature, and Mystery

PHYSICAL BOOK, eBOOK, or AUDIOBOOK: She prefers books in physical form most of the time; however, enjoys listening to Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes in audiobook form.

Abbey Cowper, Archive Clerk

Abbey is our archives clerk. That means that she will basically be living in the library basement, going through all the old documents that are stored down there. She has been working at the library as a student page for two years and is so excited about this new position. She will be going to college for library technologies in the fall and plans to focus on archival studies.

FAVOURITE BOOK:
“The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton
FAVOURITE GENRES:
Dystopian and Mystery
PHYSICAL BOOK, eBOOK, or AUDIOBOOK?
Prefers physical books.
